Why we built this

A place to ask, without being sold to.

Most of the internet aimed at older adults is a funnel. Ask one question about Medicare and the phone rings for a month. We wanted the opposite: somewhere you can ask a plain question and get a plain answer from someone who does this for a living.

What we believe

Connection

Nobody should work out Medicare, home care, or a rising drug bill alone at a kitchen table. There are people who know this cold — the problem is finding them.

Education

A good answer helps the person who asked and everyone who searches it later. That's why answers here are public, and why we reward the ones people found useful.

Transparency

We say how we make money, who checked whose license, and what happens to your information. If we can't say it plainly, we shouldn't be doing it.

Community

Professionals here compete on being useful rather than on being loudest. That turns out to be better for everyone, including them.

What "non-toxic" actually means here

It's easy to put the word on a homepage. These are the rules we hold ourselves and our members to, and you can hold us to them too.

  • No pressure, ever. Deadlines are facts, not closing tools. A member who uses one as a lever is out.
  • Plain language, including when it costs them. If the honest answer is "the plan you already have is fine", that's the answer.
  • Family is welcome in the room. Any member reluctant to have your daughter on the call is telling you something.
  • Asking to read is not asking to be called. Request information and we email it. That is all that happens.
  • One message stops everything. Say the word and we stop, permanently, across everyone.
  • The badge can't be bought. Verification means we checked a license. It is free at every level, so it never means "this one paid us".

How we make money

Professionals pay to belong. Partners pay a flat fee to appear in our member perks catalog. Seniors and families pay nothing, and there is no arrangement anywhere that pays us more when a member recommends one product over another.

We say this out loud because it is the only honest way to answer the question you should be asking: what's in it for them?

What we are not

We are not an insurance company, an agency, a pharmacy, or a care provider. We don't sell policies and we don't give individual insurance, legal, tax, or medical advice. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Medicare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or any government agency.

What we do is check credentials, hold people to standards, and get a good question in front of someone who can answer it.
