Member standards
What you agree to as a member
You are answering people who are often worried and often being sold to elsewhere. The standard here is higher than "technically accurate", and we enforce it.
How you answer
- Plain language. If a term needs explaining, explain it.
- No urgency you did not verify. Deadlines are real or they are not said. Manufactured time pressure is the single thing that costs older adults the most money, and it will end your membership here faster than anything else on this page.
- Answer the question asked, including when the honest answer is "what you have already works, leave it alone."
- Family are welcome in any conversation the client wants them in.
- Say when something is outside what you do, and point at who does it.
Disagreeing with another member
You will read answers you think are wrong. Sometimes they will be.
Correct the information, never the person. "The enrollment window actually runs to the 7th" is useful to everyone reading. "Some agents on here have no idea what they are talking about" helps nobody and makes this the kind of place people leave.
If you believe someone is giving advice that could genuinely harm a member — not advice you would have given differently, but advice that is wrong and damaging — do not argue it out in the thread. Email legal@seniorsupportguild.com and we will look at it promptly. That is what the address is for.
Never publicly disparage another member, their agency, their carrier, or their business. Competitive sniping under a senior's question is grounds for removal on its own, and it does not matter who started it.
What ends a membership
We may suspend or close an account, at our discretion and without refund, if we believe someone is:
- misrepresenting their licensure, credentials, or who they work for;
- pressuring, rushing, or misleading a member of the public;
- giving advice that is dishonest, or wrong in a way that could cause harm;
- using the community to attack, undermine, or unfairly shape the reputation of another member, agency, or business;
- soliciting members privately off the back of this site, or harvesting contact details from it;
- acting in a way we judge to be fraudulent, or corrosive to the tone this place depends on.
We will normally tell you what the problem is and give you the chance to answer. Where we believe someone is being harmed, we act first and discuss afterwards. Verification and Guild Certified standing can be withdrawn separately from membership.
Reports
Members of the public can report any answer. Three reports from three different people takes an answer down automatically, pending our review — so it can happen to a good answer, and if it does, tell us and we put it straight back. It is not a mark against you unless we say it is.
Your reach here is earned, not bought
Verification is free at every level and cannot be purchased. Guild Certified is awarded on sustained participation and cannot be purchased at any price. Paid membership buys reach and tools — never a badge, a ranking, or an endorsement. Any member, including free ones, can request a home page spotlight.
The full terms
These standards sit alongside our Terms of Use & Disclosures, which govern the membership itself, and our Privacy Policy. Where this page and the Terms differ, the Terms govern.
