Before you decide
We check that a license or certification is current and in good standing before anyone is admitted, and we hold members to our standards. We take that seriously and we will keep doing it properly.
It is still a floor, not a guarantee. A checkmark says somebody looked at Tom's paperwork. It cannot tell you how they will treat you, whether their advice suits your situation, or how they will behave once the paperwork is signed. Whatever you decide is your decision, and the Guild is not a party to anything you agree with them.
- Talk to more than one person before you commit to anything.
- Have someone you trust sit in, or on the phone with you.
- Read what you are asked to sign, and keep a copy.
- You can check a license yourself with your state's insurance department or licensing board.
- Nothing has to be decided today. Anyone who says otherwise is telling you something about themselves.
If a member of the Guild ever pressures, rushes, or misleads you, tell us — we act on that, and we would rather hear it than not.
